Fall 2024 Recreational Season Information:

—Begins September, 2024—

Please read the information below to get a better idea of what to expect for this spring.

Most importantly, registration is still open for in-town. We would love to get as many kids playing soccer as possible, so please encourage a friend or neighbor to join!

Important Dates

OPENING DAY is 9/7 in SEPTEMBER. OPENING DAY will consist of a meet and greet, fun activities, and an introduction to soccer, coaches, etc (all ages). Pre-K and K players will receive their start times in August (sessions will be at 9am and 10:30am). Grade 1 and 2 players should arrive for noon.
CLOSING DAY is 11/2 in NOVEMBER. If we have bad weather, we can extend the season as needed.

Location

LOCATION: PURCHASE STREET FIELDS, at approximately 211 Purchase Street, Middleboro, MA.

What to Wear & Bring

UNIFORM SHIRTS are included in the registration fee and will be handed out before the first games on 9/21. Players should bring comfortable shorts or sweatpants, sneakers or soccer cleats (no softball or baseball cleats please), a water bottle, and a size 4 soccer ball. Due to the difficulty of makeup dates, we try to hold sessions unless the weather is very bad or unsafe—so a rain jacket, warm sweatshirt etc, might be needed on certain days.

First Time with MYSA? No Problem.

For newcomers, here is how the program works:

PRE-K and K

  • If you're interested in coaching, please be sure to speak with one of the MYSA board members on site this weekend, and we'll get you started!

  • Coach Glen will be leading this division and he is terrific and has been working with us for years. He's excellent with the kids. He leads both sessions (9:00am and 10:30am), and has a gift working with young kids and teaching them about the game.

  • There are no practices at this age level - we simply get together on Saturday mornings and have a blast.

  • Your child should be enrolled in a Pre-K program at a local school/church/daycare etc.

  • We rely on parents to volunteer as "coaches" at this level. Glen will lead the entire session; the coach's job at this level is simply to help keep the kids engaged, in the right place, and feeling comfortable. If you are interested in coaching, please let us know by responding to this email with your name, your child's name, and your contact information. A CORI check will be required in order to help out.

  • If you would like to help, please fill out the volunteer form on this page.

GRADES 1/2

  • Teams typically practice 1 day per week and play games on Saturdays.

  • Game schedule: Grades 1-2: noon every Saturday.

  • Coaching at this level is nearly 100% dependent on parent volunteers. You do not need soccer or coaching experience to coach a team. This year, we are instituting a support and mentoring program for new coaches to help get acquainted with the game, working with kids, etc.  Please consider coaching! A CORI check will be required in order to help out.

  • For players in grades 3 and up, we have a travel program available.
